Marina City 1:2500 scale miniature paper model, about 3 inches tall when built Bertrand Goldberg designed these distinctive concrete "corn cob" towers as affordable housing for a janitorial union. The urban mini-city was revolutionary when it was completed in 1964, a time when most new development followed suburban patterns. In addition to the two famous towers, the Marina City complex includes apartments, offices, restaurants, banks, a hotel, a theater, a boat marina, and even a bowling alley. Read more:
