Ain't What She Used to Be

On November 14, 1939 the Chicago Tribune described an unusual street accident in which Mr. Shank discovered that his old grey mare ain't what she used to be:

Thankfully the horse appears to have survived the fall. The manhole cover is still there in front of No. 3117, and it seems unlikely that any horses have fallen into it lately.
