The small workers cottage was built in about 1883 for Danish cigarmaker Frederick Bergstrom, his wife Christine and six children. The house remained in the family until 1965.

The canopy over the entry stairs were the only remaining visible detail of the fanciful woodwork that may have originally ornamented the front of the house around the windows and under the eaves.

The house was demolished in 2008.
