THE WHITE HOUSE
built 1800
paper
model scale 1:750
The presidential palace was a major part of Pierre L'Enfant's plan of Washington. President John Adams was the first occupant of the house when it was completed in 1800. The building was burned by the British in the War of 1812, but was rebuilt. It has been remodeled, redecorated and renovated numerous times since, but remains a treasure house of American history.
A 1:1500 scale postcard version of this model is also available from Wurlington Press
