Designed by Henry Bacon in the form of a Greek Doric temple, the memorial was dedicated in 1922 by President Warren G. Harding. The colossal sculpture of the seated Lincoln by Daniel Chester French is nearly 20 feet high. The wide steps of the memorial which face the Washington Monument have been the scene of many historic rallies and events.
