National Building Museum (Pension Building)
1:1500 scale miniature paper model, roughly 3.25 inches wide
General Montgomery C. Meigs designed this Washington, D.C. office building to house the Pension Bureau for the benefit of Civil War veterans. The building was the world's largest masonry structure when completed in 1887, containing over fifteen million bricks. The Great Hall has been the site of many inaugural balls since the first election of President Grover Cleveland.
