Architect Mies van der Rohe built this weekend retreat for Dr. Edith Farnsworth near the Fox River in Plano, Illinois from 1945-51. The 1,500 square-foot glass house, elegantly elevated above the ground, encompasses views of the surrounding forest and is a modernist masterpiece.
